This series of photographic images, is designed to raise a dialog about the perceptions of war and to convey how war is perceived and facts are distorted. By appropriating 35mm photographs made by my grandfather, Don Daugherty, while he was on military service in Vietnam. I manipulated the images by; changing colors, removing figures, adding images to show scenes from American anti-war protests, in contrast soldiers didn’t have a choice but to be drafted into the Vietnam war, and warping to represent how war warps soldiers. By focusing on my grandfather, and the people living in Vietnam, along with those back in the United States protesting against the war. This series was made to spark a conversation of the lives lost and choices people made. 2021.
